The Cicasa (retorromana as residence) is a circle of overly alpine wooden domestic relatives in the Holy Vigil of South Tyrol, surrounded by the Val Badia Dolomites. It is built on a gentle, clean hill by a thermal spring.
Based on the archaic shape of a residence, no difference is made between the roof and the facade. The increasing shape of the roof makes the construction visible from afar, while at the same time the low wavelines also offer protection. The shape of the trapezium seems to be a common detail within the common design. To illuminate the interiors, trapezoidal skylights are used in addition to a skylight, the sweetness of which shines conically in the residence.
The three floors of the ground floor are entirely made of wood that fell on October 30, 2018 through heavy storms into the surrounding forests. The solid spruce wood was joined to create the exterior and interior partitions, using a unique approach and defending itself with adhesives and resins. Based on 6 cm thick wooden boards, robust 36 cm exterior partitions had been made. Even within the prefabricated building components, the boards had been placed inside in the same way because the tree had grown – from back to top. Inside, the floor includes stable, hand-brushed stone pine wood. All the walls were already prefabricated with this floor; the connections for the windows and doors of the house had been knocked down in the wall elements. Due to its thermal coloring and smell of function, which gives the room a feeling of well-being and heating, stone pine was used in the neighborhood’s lifestyle for many centuries as an inner lining of the lounge.
Like a pine apple, the facade is lined with hand-cut larch slats. Thanks to a sufficient wall thickness, the residence achieves excellent thermal values, so additional insulation has become absolutely useless.
The concrete for the basement includes dolomite rock from the neighboring cove, enriched with the property’s personal thermal water.
The issue of sustainability has been given too high a priority for this mission. Most of the substances used are neighborhood and natural. Almost no artificial substance was used.
The most effective is the wood of the strictly neighborhood residence, in addition the stone for the floor and toilets have been reduced from blocks of dolomite of the valley.
The desire of substances is driven by aesthetic characteristics in addition to information about their strength and durability. For example, the larch wood, used for the façade, resists the inclement weather even without treatment. Over the years, stable forests enlarge a patina, giving them more man or woman and charm, in an effort to cause the construction of an increasing number of prides over time.
